Customer.io is a customer engagement platform for behavioral email, push, and SMS campaigns. This Arcade toolkit lets LLMs read and write Customer.io workspace data — profiles, events, segments, campaigns, and messages — using the Customer.io App and Tracking APIs.

Capabilities

  • Profile management: create, update, look up, and delete person records; resolve by email or ID; handle multi-match scenarios.
  • Event and journey tracking: record custom named events on a person's timeline to trigger lifecycle automations.
  • Audience and segment operations: list workspace segments, inspect segment membership, search people by segment and/or attribute filters.
  • Campaign and newsletter insights: list campaigns and newsletters; retrieve aggregate delivery metrics for each over configurable periods.
  • Broadcast and transactional messaging: list broadcasts and trigger API broadcasts to segments or explicit recipient lists; list transactional templates and send transactional emails by template ID.
  • Activity and message history: retrieve a person's recent activities (filterable by type and name) and full message/delivery history.

Secrets

This toolkit requires no OAuth flow; all authentication is handled via secrets passed at runtime.

CUSTOMERIO_APP_API_KEY A Customer.io App API key, used to call the Beta App API (profile lookups, segment queries, metrics, etc.). Generate one in the Customer.io dashboard under Settings → API Credentials → App API Keys. The key requires the permissions appropriate to the operations you intend to perform (read and/or write access to contacts, segments, campaigns).

CUSTOMERIO_TRACKING_API_KEY The Tracking API key for your workspace, used to identify/update people and record events via the Track API. Found in the Customer.io dashboard under Settings → API Credentials → Tracking API Keys. It is paired with the Site ID below.

CUSTOMERIO_SITE_ID Your workspace's Site ID, required alongside the Tracking API key to authenticate Track API calls. Located in Settings → API Credentials next to the Tracking API key.

CUSTOMERIO_REGION Indicates which Customer.io data center hosts your workspace: us (default) or eu. This determines the API base URLs the toolkit calls. Find your region in Settings → Workspace Settings or from the URL you use to log in to Customer.io.

For guidance on configuring secrets in Arcade, see the Arcade secrets docs. You can also manage secrets directly at https://api.arcade.dev/dashboard/auth/secrets.
